We interrupt my report about Israel Space Week to post something for City Daily Photo blogger's Theme Day.
The Feb. 1 subject is TIRED. 

When I moved from the Jerusalem Hills down to the Negev a few years ago, I was shocked by the old-style technique used by one of the three movers. 

Mohammad was not an especially big man, but he knew how to use the tumpline method to full advantage.  
Still, at the end of that hot August day, I reckon he was a bit TIRED. 

The whole work of moving house reminded me of the old Yiddish proverb:

GOD GAVE BURDENS,  ALSO SHOULDERS.

I myself used to carry things on my back using such a tumpline while working livestock as a residential volunteer at Heifer Ranch and I found it quite nice.

Southward movement

The October 1 theme day for our City Daily Photo bloggers is about movement.

I'll never forget my moving day, August 5, 2013, when I said farewell to the Jerusalem Hills.
There was a lot of movement that day as three strong movers shlepped my stuff to their truck.

Mohammad used the tumpline technique to full advantage.

 If I had known that's how they do it, maybe I would have looked for stronger boxes.
But miraculously, nothing broke.

 The most fun was getting to ride in the cabin of the truck with the guys (since I have no car, they had no choice but to take me along with the boxes).


We drove south and reached Meitar in the Negev in less than two hours.
Then the unloading began -- more movement.
The men worked quickly, efficiently, and with good humor.

Taking stock

It was exactly one month ago today that I said goodbye to the Jerusalem Hills sky and moved down to Meitar in the Negev.

In packing I thought I had way too much stuff, but my boxes filled a measly one-third of the moving van.
Now  if I can just finish UNpacking, I'll be happy to sit back and enjoy my new place.

Moving day

In case you noticed that my blogging has been sporadic for several weeks, here below is proof that I had a good excuse.
I was working hard cleaning and packing and getting ready to move.

And today I moved!!

 The three movers were just amazing.

Mohammad used the tumpline technique to full advantage.

 Michael handled the heavy things as if they were toys.

He was often singing and full of humor and good humor.

The early morning moshav bus had a tight squeeze but he made it.

The most fun was getting to ride in the cabin of the truck with the guys (since I have no car, they had no choice but to take me along with the boxes).
