Israeli salad for a blue-tongue

Even though its bustle and size make me dizzy, I stepped into Malcha Mall.
The pet shop is the one store there that I cannot NOT go into.
.
The picture taped to this skink's enclosure makes me believe it is what Australians call a blue-tongue.
I, for one, would not want to keep a 60-centimeter reptile in a glass case for its 20-year life expectancy.
.
Well, at least this guy had a nice bowl of "Israeli salad."
We humans eat it for breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner.

Shadows in a sunny elevator shaft

For Shadow Shot Sunday here are strong shadows inside a transparent elevator shaft.

For the first few floors the elevator is inside, but then suddenly it starts facing the outside.

The 17-story building is part of the Technology Park in the Malcha neighborhood of Jerusalem.

Across the street you see the train terminal. It and the little train stop at the Biblical Zoo are the only train stations in Jerusalem.

Bright sun, sharp shadows

Across the street, in blue and white, is the Malcha Mall.
And in back of the mall the towering residential buildings of Holyland Park.

Good news: the mall is air-conditioned. Yay!

Bloodmobiles

Jerusalem is suffering through a whole week of abnormal temperatures in the mid 30s C.
Today it was 37!
I took refuge in the airconditioned Malcha Mall.

It struck me funny that two Magen David Adom bloodmobiles were unloading at the Toys R Us entrance, under a blood red arch.
Like . . . let's play vampire!

Later I saw the technicians upstairs on the shopping floor setting up five cots, a privacy screen, and a table and chair.
Needles are not my thing so I didn't wait around for the first donors.
Anyway, I would not have had the nerve to photograph.

Mall madness

.
Passover begins this Monday evening.
Most people are busy cleaning the house and/or preparing food for the seder meal.
The lucky ones are packing their bags for a bargain get-away to Turkey or Europe.
.
And then, there is the traditional shopping for new spring clothes; and if you are invited to a seder, shopping also for a gift for the hosts.
.
Welcome to the mall! Malcha Mall is also known as Jerusalem Mall.
Have a seat by the fountain.

Or "relax" with some coffee at Cafe Hillel.

Roaming the several floors, containing 260 businesses, together with 35,000 other visitors a day, can be a lot of work.

My own favorite place is on the outside, looking in.

No news is good news, but not for these

This building is part of the Technology Park located in Jerusalem's Malcha neighborhood.
A while back I went there to snoop around for photos.
More interesting than anything I found inside the building was something I spied down below.

Look at all those television vans!
So that's where some of the foreign press have their offices!

Poor guys, they didn't have any bloody news to cover today.

Quiet returned to Jerusalem today, thank God.
