.
It was a cool gray day in Jerusalem today, with a few drops of rain.
Heavy clouds were sitting on Mt. Scopus at the end of the street.

Pictures of life in Jerusalem and the Jerusalem Hills. And since August 2013 also a look at the northern Negev, my new home.
Very handsome train. Do trains go all over the country now?
ReplyDeleteA marvelously brooding sky.
ReplyDeleteI love that modern tram. We have nothing like that here and our auto traffic has gotten out of hand and our Chamber of Commerce types are touting all the new construction and new businesses which means that our little town (Ocala, Florida) is not becoming unmanageable and not nearly as much fun as it was just 10 years ago! Aargh!
ReplyDeleteNice image. I get so jealous of mass transit in other areas. The personal car is king here in Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA.
ReplyDeleteGreat tram
ReplyDeleteVery nice tram. Didn't know you had them there.
ReplyDeleteAll aboard!
ReplyDeleteWish we had trains here like this one.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Rochester, NY weather... though we don't have the super surface transportation that you must enjoy.
ReplyDeleteShalom friends. To answer some of your questions:
ReplyDeleteThe tram (aka light rail) in Jerusalem was built over many years and started operation in 2011. I covered many fascinating aspects of its construction starting in early 2008, when my blog started. You can scroll through my 41 posts on the tram:

They are currently building extensions of the main line, e.g. soon the tram will go all the way to Hadassah Ein Kerem medical center.
Only last year did Tel Aviv begin construction of its tram system.
Israel also has a regular railroad system which now goes from Nahariya in the north down to Dimona in the south. Due to open soon is the new high speed electric train line that promises to connect Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in only 25 minutes.
See more about the trains in these posts (videos and photos):
