Does this camel have its own prayer rug to kneel on?
The camel's handler was busy on his phone while waiting for paying customers.
A second dromedary was hitched to a fire hydrant, probably hoping someone would want to take a short ride just for fun.
From our bus I could see more camels on the other side of the highway.
It's a long outdoor market selling ceramics and souvenirs.
Gas station and restaurant.
And everyone knows the Last Chance coffee bar here.
It's on the road from Jerusalem to Jericho, and it's your last chance to make a pit stop before the desert, before making the descent to the Dead Sea, hundreds of meters below sea level.

I have stopped there several times but never sat on one of them. The kids tried once. Missing Israel when I see your pics
ReplyDeleteEveryone DOES know the Last Chance coffee bar, yes :) The title is a bit scary but the food is exactly what my family like.
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun

ReplyDeleteWishing you a very Happy New Year, Dina !
ReplyDeleteGreetings from South Tyrol.
I like the camel photos , it would be interesting to take a ride on one . Have you taken a ride on one Dina?
ReplyDeleteShalom and happy new year 2018 to you all, friends. Sorry I couldn't think of anything original for a New Year's post.
ReplyDeleteAlice, I had a few minutes on a tourist camel a l o n g time ago. And also one short ride on our resident female camel when I lived at Heifer Ranch in Arkansas. Gerald was trying to train her and I had to be the guinea pig to test his improvised "saddle." That was scary. :)
Shalom Dina.. I think that camel is waiting for me 😀 Happy New year, best wishes for a safe, happy and healthy 2018 🎉🎆🎇🎈🎊
ReplyDeleteLove.
ReplyDeleteThey look like such characters!
ReplyDeleteThat's so sweet to give the camel a soft rug to rest on. I've ridden a camel once and that was enough, thank you. I know now why they call them the ship of the desert. I nearly got seasick riding it.
