Thursday, when some soldiers, the lucky ones, get to go home for the weekend.
Sunday morning comes quickly, and then back to base.
Yesterday, however, IDF presence was beefed up along our border with Sinai and the Gaza Strip after Islamic militants on Wednesday unleashed a wave of simultaneous attacks on Egyptian forces in Sheikh Zuweid.

Added you to my reading list! But what a sad note to read today. Somehow after traveling to a place - even if for a brief visit - you feel more intensely the news like that you've shared. I think back to sailing past Port Said, to being on the bus rolling through your beautiful countryside between Haifa and Jerusalem. . .sending good thoughts your way!
ReplyDeleteBe safe Dina , our thoughts are with you.

ReplyDeleteAlthough it was inevitable that Islamic State would turn its terrorist eyes to a tiny Jewish state, as easy target in comparison to say Syria or Iraq, it is still really terrifying. If only there was permanent peace.
ReplyDeleteWay too close.
ReplyDeleteMay IDF soldiers be fearless. . . . and SAFE!
And the rest of the world keeps dreaming...
ReplyDeleteOh Dina! This is such a scary time. I'm wishing you peace and safety.
