The Kiss

.

A poster on the street outside Belvedere.
Merisi Vienna  made sure I got into the right gallery to see the famous painting by Austrian Gustav Klimt.
Read more about The Kiss including "It is a symbol of Vienna Jugendstil—Viennese Art Nouveau—and is considered Klimt's most popular work."
I am right now in Berlin airport, having just left lovely Vienna.
Tomorrow I'll be back in the Negev desert.

  2. Klimt might have been a bit of a rascal, but he was a big city man who loved to paint women in elegant clothing. You won't find him in the desert :)

  3. It has been a favorite of mine since I first discovered in while perusing the art books in the library circa 1970 - all that gold, the fluid lines, the mille fiore patterning her dress, the delicate vines across her ankles . . . so beautiful. Hopefully your viewing of the actual painting, face to face, was as delightful as I imagine. Safe travels, and welcome home to the Negev. It has its own beauty.

  5. Ah yes, I believe I've seen that painting before. I'm glad to know you did arrive home safely.

  6. I've only seen one painting by Klint and it was in a museum in Prague. Just love his work.
