Israeli salad for a blue-tongue

.
Even though its bustle and size make me dizzy, I stepped into Malcha Mall.
The pet shop is the one store there that I cannot NOT go into.
.
The picture taped to this skink's enclosure makes me believe it is what Australians call a blue-tongue.
I, for one, would not want to keep a 60-centimeter reptile in a glass case for its 20-year life expectancy.
.
Well, at least this guy had a nice bowl of "Israeli salad."
We humans eat it for breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner.
.
Shalom to friends at Camera-Critters meme.

  1. I love blue-tongued skinks, they are striking animals. If one has the room that's needed for an enclosure (and that's a lot of room), they make great pets. Unfortunately, many people don't do any research and rely on whatever the pet shop tells them, which is usually...misinformation (the most polite term I can come up with).

  3. We often joke about organizing some night-raids on the many pet shops here, and set all the animals free. Can't go there.

  4. Thanks for your sympathy as to the massacre in Norway.

I think your photo shows a very special camera critter.

  5. I'm attracted to pet stores too, though they can be pretty sad sometimes. The skink is so cute - almost as cute as naked mole rats :)

  6. Very few blue-tongued camera critters have appeared here since I started blogging. This fellow might even be the first.

  7. Certainly looks like a blue tongue, such a shame to see it in a cage. They don't do any harm. We rarely see them in the city now.

  8. Poor animal. :(
Except for small decorative fish, I wouldn't want to keep in a glass case for its entire life.

Is it a kind of lizard, Dina?

  9. I feel kind of sorry for this guy! Seems like a glass case isn't quite the right life for him. But he sure is pretty. Or she.

  10. hi Dina. I left you a message on the Train Theater.

You know lately I have been thinking of writing a formal analysis on what is magic.

In canada on the west coast they eat fish tongues.

  11. I hope you don't mid me not commenting directly on your beautiful salad, but instead thank you for the heartfelt condolences you sent me. They were deeply appreciated.

  12. We're having a terrible time in Hawaii right now trying to keep out all kinds of giant snakes. People keep trying to keep them as pets even though the fines for doing so is really steep.

  13. Don't mind the salad but wouldn't want to be all too near that thing... :-)

  15. He looks big! I hope he finds a home with someone who will give him plenty of room to roam...and really, I wish he were out in the wilds with other blue-tongued skinks where he really belongs!

  16. A bit sad to see the blue-tongued skink, enclosed in such a small space. They need room to roam.

  17. Shalom friends. Yes, I'd have to agree with you all.

Eki in Indonesia, the little sign says the lizard is native to Indonesia and Australia.

  18. I've spotted a couple of blue tongue lizards in my garden Dina, they sit quietly keeping cool under the bushes and don't do any harm. Wouldn't like it to come inside though!!
