The first wildflower

The vegetation is still brown and dry after the long hot dry summer. And still no rain in sight.
But down in the woods the first little wildflower has just pushed through. It gives hope!

  2. That is how I always feel about the first crocus to put in an appearance in the spring. I watch for it for a song time, and really feel my spirits lift when it does appear.

I hope you get your rain soon.

  3. I hope Europe can send you some of the snow they've been getting in a more watery format...from all posts I've been reading (someone sent me her Jerusalem gardening group, too), you need it, need it, need it!

Love the little crocus (that's what it looks like to me).

  4. Does this mean it is spring there?
Still working on the river, but very hard.

  5. Kiwi, Bobbie, Leora, thank you all for sharing your feelings about rain and crocus. And now I know the name of my flower!

Patsy and Bennie, I forgot to explain. Yes, it might be confusing. But here the planting and the blooming season starts around October or November, whenever the first rains come after the dry season (which begins in March or April).

If I saw that kind of flowers at that period, I would think ; "no more seasons".

  8. Hi Dina! It’s always great when I have a chance to get here! But now it seems that some rain is needed...
Wonderful JFK memorial; I still remember how shocked I was when learned the news in 1963...
Now, interested in Tunisia? Blogtrotter has it now! Miss your comments there... :(
Hope you enjoy! Have a great week!

  11. A crocus! How wonderful! We used to only see them in spring in the Midwest. We don't see them here at all in Hawaii. I'm glad you had a wildflower smile.

  12. Water for you, water for me. I'll be doing a rain dance soon.

I also like your posts about the horses and knights. Modern knights are (thankfully) benign, compared to their medieval counterparts.

  15. Ours won't have the pointed white petals, but definitely it's a crocus. Water is so precious!
